Below you can find more details about the kind of data we collect and how we use it.

To make it easy to understand, the details are organised into categories based on the relationship you have with us.

While you are using our website:

  • Cookies
    • Our website, like any typical website, uses "cookies".
A cookie is a small piece of text sent to your browser by a website you visit. It helps the website to remember information about your visit. That can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you. Cookies play an important role. Without them, using the web would be a much more frustrating experience.
Cookies enable you to use shopping carts and to personalize your experience on the website, tell us which parts of the website people have visited, help us measure the web traffic and the effectiveness of ads and web searches. They give us insights into user behaviour so we can improve our communications and products.
No personal information is contained in our cookies.
    • By browsing our website you accept the use of cookies.
    • You can turn off the cookies from the settings of your internet browser. Alternatively, if you start your browsers in "private" or "incognito" mode, all cookies are temporary and will be deleted after you close your browser.
    • To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set, visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.
  • How to change my cookie settings?
Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings.

  • Measurement of web traffic
    • For the web traffic statistics, we use Google Analytics.
The majority of the websites use Google Analytics, so, the details below explain what happens when you visit a typical website (also our own website).
    • Google Analytics collects statistical data like time and duration of visit, pages visited, country, city, operating system, screen resolution, bounce rate, entry and exit pages.
The data collected do not contain personal information (your name, email, address, IP address, etc).
In the web statistics, You, as a visitor, are represented by a "cookie" which is a random number created by your internet browser.
This random, but stable number, allows Google Analytics to understand if you are coming the first time on the website, or you are a frequent user.
You can visit our website with a new random number if you use "private browsing". Then, you are seen as a brand new visitor.
    • The purpose we measure web traffic is that the collected statistics help us improve the website and understand the impact of our advertising.
    • You may opt out of Google Analytics across all websites.

When installing or using our software:

  • Our software products and services are 100% free of Spyware, Adware and Malware.
  • We do not bundle our installation files with any 3rd party advertising platform. No extra unneeded software will be installed on your computer.
  • The StarMessage screensaver and StarReminder use our runtime statistics library to measure anonymously the number of installations and runs of the software.
Runtime statistics are similar to Google Analytics.
No personal data are collected. No IP addresses are collected. Only aggregated figures (e.g. totals, averages, monthly installations) are generated.
The collected statistics help us improve the software and allows us the early detection of possible compatibility problems with new/old operating systems.
  • The purpose we use runtime statistics is that it allows us to build better applications by focusing on what matters most to the users (e.g. which features they use the most) and also get notified of application problems so we can correct them faster.
  • From inside our applications, you can opt-in and opt-out of the use of application telemetry.

Orders placed at those payment processors also included your address (as you entered it during the payment) and IP address of the computer you placed the order from.
While we do not keep this extra information in our list of customers, the information remains at your emailing system where the successful order notifications are archived.
