Super-simple e-commerce for creators. You can run all sorts of recurring subscriptions through Gumroad.

Includes a homepage and web posts that you can write about your software.

It has a marketplace, "Discover". Sales that come through Discover are subject to an additional 10% fee.

Accepts all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and JCB, as well as PayPal.

From Gumroad's tagline, you can see that the developers are missing from the categories of digital goods creators: "We have sent over $251M to artists, designers, educators, writers, podcasters and more."

Take the uncertainty out of selling in international markets. We’ll correctly calculate, collect and remit all required local taxes on your behalf while ensuring compliance with global legislation for data privacy and security – such as the EU’s GDPR.

Manage all aspects of your subscription program.

Effortlessly manage plans and pricing, promotions, automated or manual renewal processes, and free trials and freemium offers – plus all of your customers’ preferred languages, currencies and payment methods.

Provide the localized experience that your customers expect.

Our platform addresses regional differences, calculates applicable taxes and lets you define market-specific pricing. Using GeoIP technology, we automatically display content based on location, providing the optimal online experience for each customer.

Generally, the company’s fee structure is based on a percentage of transaction amounts. However, cleverbridge also considers sales volume, average order value, and other factors.

Interested parties may contact cleverbridge’s sales team to request a customized quote based on their specific business requirements.

Digital River acquired many of the oldest payment processors that were specialized in the software registration services, like ShareIT, RegNow, SWReg, eSellerate, OneNetworkDirect, etc. The vendor's control panel is based on the ShareIT control panel. It is not very user-friendly and it looks like it still runs on a decade-old platform.

Affiliate network

MyCommerce users Radius Impact as the affiliate platform. Some years ago it had its own affiliate network.

The cost to you as a publisher/vendor for access to the Radius by Impact platform, partner Marketplace, and the MyCommerce Affiliate Marketing Support Team will be 2% of sales referred by affiliates/partners. There is NO cost for affiliates/partners to sign up for a Radius by Impact Media Partner account or to promote your products.

Other information

MyCommerce offers localization out of the box—the platform uses IP geolocation, which means you won’t need to set up individual locales to offer the right localized languages and payment methods. When you operate a business without borders, there are country requirements and local buyer preferences. Superior localization capabilities are what set us apart from the newcomers to global e-commerce.

MyCommerce serves as Merchant of Record for your business, safeguarding you against risk.

Subscriptions allow you to lower the barrier to purchase and attract new customers. MyCommerce has been perfecting our subscriptions capabilities for more than 15 years. With features like free trial and product upgrade, you can provide a flexible offering and put monetization strategies into action for new momentum.

Global Tax & Compliance: Every country has a unique set of tax and legal variables and requirements. MyCommerce manages the complexities of international taxes, including VAT, and adhere to current global compliance regulations.

MyCommerce does not have an SDK for in-app purchases or for license check.

  • Nice, modern platform.
  • Integrated affiliate network.
  • One of the best platforms for creators of digital goods (music, books, graphics, etc)
  • Has an API that you can query from your application to check if your client's subscription is active or expired.
  • CleverBridge is based in Germany, but has customer support centers in US, UK, Japan and Germany.
  • Has affiliate program.
  • Has affiliate network
  • Affiliates get paid automatically via the system
  • Not focused on software sales. This service was designed with digital works (books, art, etc) in mind. The software as a digital product was added probably later. As a result, the workflow and the setup of the sale page do not exactly match the needs of a software developer.
For example, it requires that you upload your digital product (software) that will automatically be delivered to the paying customer. This means that you need to upload your software every time you release a new version and that it should be a "full" version so that the customer gets what he paid for. This is not convenient for software developers who distribute a trial version that can be activated to a "full" version.
  • Requires that the digital file is uploaded in Gumroad. This is not convenient when you sell software as the version will soon be outdated when you release your next version.
  • If you have a cross-platform software, it seems difficult (maybe cannot be done) to setup your software's order page to allow the buyer to select more than one edition (OS version) of your software for an extra price.
  • Not disclosed when the $10 montly fee is applied. Other software selling platforms do not have a monthly fee.
  • Old platform
  • Difficult to use the control panel
  • Products (software) cannot have options, like operating system, or add-ons. They have one fixed price
